McGill University is committed to making higher education accessible to qualified students who may be facing financial challenges. The Entrance Bursary Program provides financial assistance to newly accepted students beginning their first undergraduate degree or to those entering direct-entry professional programs in Medicine or Law (with a prior degree).
The bursary supplements other financial resources such as:
Government aid
Indigenous Band Support Funding
Part-time work
Parental support
Other funding sources
To qualify for the McGill Entrance Bursary, applicants must:
Be newly admitted to a full-time undergraduate degree program or a direct-entry professional program in Medicine or Law (with a prior degree)
Demonstrate financial need
Plan to apply for government student aid and/or Indigenous Band Support Funding
Note: Students registered with Student Accessibility & Achievement may also qualify while taking a reduced course load.
The bursary provides financial support throughout your undergraduate studies, helping to bridge the gap between tuition costs and available resources.
Apply to McGill University for an undergraduate program.
Once admitted (via formal letter or on the Admissions Status page on Minerva), you can apply for the bursary.
Complete the bursary application in Minerva:
Go to Financial Aid/Awards tab → Financial Aid Menu → Apply for a McGill Entrance Bursary → Complete and submit the application.
Submit a CSS Profile if you are:
A Canadian citizen or permanent resident living outside Canada
A U.S. student
An international (non-U.S.) student
