What is the SENSS Scholarship?

The SENSS ESRC Studentship enables students to:

  • Undertake research projects they propose, under expert academic supervision.
  • Collaborate with external partners, such as businesses, charities, or think tanks, for access to data, additional funding, placements, or supervisory support.
  • Receive advanced training and join a diverse academic network across 8 UK universities.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the SENSS Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Residential Criteria:

    • Open to applicants worldwide, with a limited number (approximately 10 per year) reserved for international students.
  2. Academic Requirements:

    • Masters + PhD applicants (+4.5-year award): A Bachelor’s degree (Honours) or equivalent professional experience.
    • PhD-only applicants (+3.5-year award): A Master’s degree or equivalent research skills.
    • Students already enrolled in a PhD program can apply if they have not completed a substantial portion of their studies.
